What the test includes
- Visual inspection of the plug, cable, casing and obvious damage.
- Electrical tests appropriate to the class and type of equipment.
- Clear pass or fail information for each item tested.
- Advice where an item fails and repair may be practical.
What to bring
- The equipment itself and its normal mains lead.
- External power supplies where they are part of the equipment.
- Any detachable IEC or specialist mains leads you want included.
- A list of items if you are bringing a larger batch.
How workshop PAT testing works
1 · Book inTell us roughly how many items you have and arrange a suitable drop-off time.
2 · TestItems are visually inspected and electrically tested as appropriate.
3 · ResultsYou receive the pass or fail information and any optional certificate or written report requested.
Is PAT testing legally required?
UK law requires electrical equipment to be maintained so that it remains safe. HSE guidance explains that the law does not require every appliance to be PAT tested or tested every year; inspection and testing should be based on risk.
Please note: this is currently a workshop drop-off service. We do not currently advertise on-site PAT testing callouts.
